Who We Are
We’re not just your neighbourhood café. We’re a little slice of nostalgia, a dash of dreams, and a whole lot of heart, served warm by a father-daughter duo – Pinaki & Prithika.
How It Started
It all began with a simple wish: to keep our curious, creative teenager (hi, that’s Prithika!) engaged in something meaningful, and to pass on the timeless values of honest, fair, and socially responsible business. Pinaki, the dad, has always had a soft spot for small businesses – the ones with creaky wooden chairs, warm smiles, and stories behind every counter.
The Inspiration
Having spent years in the USA, the idea of “Main Street” – the kind of street that wraps its arms around a town with cafes, bookstores, small shops, and neighbourly charm – left a lasting impression on our hearts. That’s what we wanted to bring home to Salt Lake, Kolkata: the soul of a small-town café, where everyone feels welcome.
The Beginning – 2021
Our journey began humbly in 2021, in a garage at House No. 25. That number stuck with us and became a badge of where it all started. Just a coffee machine, a few sandwiches, and a head full of dreams. And yes, Prithika was still in school! But she was up for the challenge – curious, creative, and full of questions. (And caffeine.)

Meet the Family Behind the Café
- From Garage to Garden Café
- Today, we’ve moved into a charming 50-year-old home in Salt Lake – still cosy, still personal, but with room to grow.
- You’ll find corners filled with real plants, shelves with books and board games, a peaceful quiet zone, a garden with jackfruit and jamrul trees, and walls adorned with art collected during our travels – inspired especially by Van Gogh’s “Café Terrace at Night.”
- Conscious Living
- We’ve lovingly reused furniture, kept plastic use to a minimum, and created an ambience that’s both eco-conscious and aesthetically delightful.
- Think warm lighting, classic marble floors, recycled wood tables, and a curated playlist of mellow music that completes the vibe.
- The Food
- We started small, but with our wonderful team, we now serve an ever-evolving menu with influences from Continental, Korean, and everything delicious in between.
- There’s always something new to try – whether you’re here to catch up with friends, finish a novel, or just take a break from the world.
- Our Philosophy
- At 25 Main Street Café, it’s all about connection – to good food, great art, warm people, and the joy of slow, mindful living.
